As mentioned in the famous TCM diet and therapy books “Ben Cao Gang Mu”, sweet potatoes have many health benefits with their neutral and characteristically sweet taste. They strengthen the function of our spleen and stomach and assist in the digestion process. They tonify the Chi, help increase energy and strengthen our immune system.

Sweet potatoes are best consumed when warm. Eating sweet potatoes when they are cold can cause diarrhea, especially on a wintery day. Flatulence can occur if you eat too much at once.

Zutaten

  • 350g sweet potatoes
  • 100g carrots
  • 1 shallot
  • 1 piece of ginger (about 5 cm)
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp curry
  • parsley or coriander to garnish

Zubereitung

  1. Peel the sweet potatoes, carrots, shallots and ginger and cut into small pieces.
  2. Add all of the ingredients into the jug. Pour in cold water until in between the two marks. Select program 2 and start.
  3. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Sprinkle the soup with parsley or cilantro.
  5. Tip: You are able to make a decision regarding the ratio between sweet potatoes and carrots depending on the size of your sweet potatoes. Two medium-sized sweet potatoes weigh approximately 400g. However, you should not use more than 450g of either type of vegetable.
