for the Congee:
  • 2 cups whole grain - round grain - rice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder (or 2cm of turmeric root, peeled)
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
for the side dish:
  • Zucchini
  • Shiitake mushrooms
  • 1 dash of lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Tamari (or soy sauce)


  1. Add all the ingredients for a rice congee into the And Soy cooking blender. Fill it with cold water up to the 1,3L mark. Select program 3 and start.
  2. In the meantime, I like to fry approximately ¼ of a zucchini (diced) and 5-6 chopped Shiitake mushrooms in a little coconut oil. I season it with some galangal, 1tsp Tamari and some lemon juice, pour very little hot water onto the mixture and let the vegetables simmer for several minutes with frequent stirring.
  3. When the congee is ready, I serve it with the vegetables, roasted sesame seeds and chopped fresh chives
